Taiwan’s high-tech sector reaches a new milestone in the global technology industry
More than 1 billion Intel processor-based desktop PC motherboards shipped around the world

Computex Taipei, June 1 – Taiwan’s motherboard manufacturers deserve a pat on the back for achieving a significant milestone in the global technology industry – shipping over 1 billion Intel processor-based desktop PC motherboards from Taiwan.

Intel Corporation’s executive vice president and chief of sales and marketing officer Sean Maloney extended his well wishes on behalf of the company by noting “Intel Corporation would like to congratulate Taiwan’s high-tech sector for achieving this historic milestone, which goes to show that the desktop PC has yet to reach its destination. Not only that, PC users are also constantly looking for improved processing capacity and graphic/storage functionalities on their desktop PCs.”

During Computex Taipei 2009, Sean Maloney will also be making a keynote speech on June 2 (Tuesday) at 2:00 PM at the Conference Room on the third floor of Taipei International Convention Center. In his speech, Maloney will touch on milestones in the history of the technology industry and shed light on how Taiwan’s high-tech sector may become an “innovation hub” for IT industries around the world. At the same time, Maloney challenges Taiwan’s high-tech sector to exploit the four new emerging technological transitions to create greater demand for the next billion desktop PCs.
