Mar 6, 2009 // The Application of Intel Atom N270 on the Embedded System

Intel has recently made an announcement on 7-year product lifecycle support for the customers of Atom N270 processor and Mobile 945GSE Express Chipset. This also includes the platforms of N270 processor and Mobile 945GSE express chipset, which ensure the optimal and standard power efficiency for each voltage of various embedded product applications. The power consumption of TDP ranges from 8 to 11W. The actual performance is based on the setting of the embedded product application.

Atom N270 processor comes with the innovative High-K metal-gate 45 nano based silicon manufacturing technology of the core speed 1.6GHz and the low thermal design power consumption of 2.5 voltages. The N270 processor comprises hyper-threading (HT) technology to ensure the optimal and standard power efficiency for each voltage, as well as the fastest response speed from the system to cope with the multi-task environment. Through the HT technology, each core for implementation can be used as two logic processors, as to ensure each parallel hyper-threading implementation complete processing via resource sharing.

945GSE Express Chipset comes with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (Intel GMA) framework of the integrated 3D graphic engine and 32 bits that is able to connect two independent monitors, support the core clock of highest speed of 166MHz , as well as various graphic interfaces, such as: single channel SDVO and VGA, dual-channel LVDS. It also supports a wide range of TV output interfaces and all types of monitors with graphic selections. The chipset also provides flexible I/O functions, such as: PCI, SATA, SPI and LAN Connect Interface (LCI) to support diverse internet solutions, e.g. support the local area network management of 10/100Mb/s Ethernet.

Product Applications:

N270 Processor and 945GSE Express Chipset come with the best design to specifically meet the market demands on various low power embedded products, such as: digital billboard, interactive client system, simplified customer device, digital security control, home network gateway, image printing and industry control etc.
