Yosun Singapore was founded on 14 Feb 1991 and was originally known as YIC Singapore Pte Ltd. Its principal operation was acting as a drop shipping point on behalf of Yosun Corporation in Taiwan for Taiwanese manufacturers based in the ASEAN region.

The business activities of Yosun Singapore have expanded since April 1992 to include component distribution. In that same year, Yosun Singapore became the officially appointed agent and distributor for Samsung and STMicroelectronics in the ASEAN region.

The company also setup its 1st overseas office (YIC Electronics Sdn Bhd) in Penang and subsequently in KL, Malaysia, and also started selling ISKRA and Bo Sung products in that year.

In 1994, the company purchased a new 6,189 sq ft office unit at 159 Sin Ming Road , in the Amtech Building to house our ASEAN HQ.

In 1995, the company had a restructuring exercise and set-up Yosure Singapore to handle STMicroelectronics. This was done in order to to be able to put concerted effort into focusing on Samsung and STMicroelectronics products by a dedicated group of people.

In 1996 Yosun set up an India Liaison Office in New Delhi after being awarded the agency from Samsung for the Indian sub-continent and was also appointed a Holtek Agent for the ASEAN region. Yosun was awarded as ‘Top Distributor' by STMicroelectronics.

In 1997, Yosun expanded its geographical coverage by appointing representatives in Bangkok in Thailand and Manila in thePhilippines. Yosun was also awarded the ‘Best Agent for Samsung in Power Devices' and was again awarded as ‘Top Distributor' by STMicroelectronics.

In 1998, Yosun was awarded Best Triac Performer for STMicroelectronics.

In 1999, due to the acquisition of Samsung's Power Device Division by Fairchild Semiconductor, Yosun was appointed Distributor for Fairchild Semiconductor for the ASEAN region and India . In this year, the company did another restructuring exercise and renamed the company in Singapore to Yosun Singapore Pte Ltd and in Malaysia to Yosun Industrial ( Malaysia ) Sdn Bhd. Again, for the 3rd year running Yosun was awarded ‘Top Distributor' by STMicroelectronics. We were also appointed as Distributor for Siemens Electromechanical Components (later changed to Tyco Electronics) for the ASEAN region.

In 2000, the parent company was listed on the main board of the Taiwan Stock Exchange. In the same year, Yosun Singapore decided to consolidate its operations in Singapore and moved the distributorship of STMicroelectronics back to Yosun Singapore and began setting-up a liaison office in Bangkok and a new liaison office in Bangalore, India.
